Down Under

This is a recap of the last few days. The 31 hours flight time from JFK to Sydney on Qatar Airways was incredible.  Elegant, bougie lounge, private suites and a stand-alone bar/lounge on the plane!  On our same flights, we befriended the Polish captain of the Holland America ship, Noordam. It was parked right in front of our ship in the harbor. Having witnessed the amount of alcohol and lack of sleep he had I was glad we were on our ship.

Sydney is amazing.  A great mix of old and new with many cultures represented. We did a private tour and were able to see most of the city in a short time.  The highlights for me were the Queen Victoria market, Bondi Beach and most importantly the incredible fish market.  Unfortunately, we were at the end of the tour and didn’t have time to have ANY of it. It was torture for “the Otter”.

Sailing out of the harbor past the iconic bridge and opera house was the frosting on the cake.

Our cruise on the Silversea Silver Whisper is a small, all suite, all-inclusive ship. Our new game is “Guess the ailment” of those walking by us.  “Oh that’s a bad hip/knee/back”.  I’m sure you have realized the demographic for this extended sailing is a much older crowd.

Tim has been held at gunpoint to bring his tuxedo, as there are 3 formal nights on this ship.  If I’m wearing heels and fancy dresses, it is non-negotiable. Dinner was at the French restaurant La Dame.  Teeny tiny portions in a 7 table space.  As always, we witnessed a serious cranky pants.  She complained throughout the entire meal.  We didn't need to guess her ailment.
